USG is the fourth largest oil storage facility in Germany, operating eight salt caverns in Nordenham (Lower Saxony) with a combined total capacity of c.2.2 million m³.

USG has acted as a dedicated facility for the German government´s national petroleum stockpiling agency (“EBV”) since its construction in the 1970’s and is a key pillar of the country’s strategic oil reserves.

iCON acquired the business in June 2019.
