iCON Infrastructure comprises a highly experienced multi-disciplinary investment team. iCON is supported in its investment activities by highly accomplished individuals with senior board and management level experience in infrastructure, private equity and related industries.
Paul is the Senior Partner of iCON Infrastructure LLP. He has a long track record of successful execution and management of infrastructure investments, including all investments undertaken by the iCON Team. Paul founded the iCON Team in 2004 prior to which he spent 10 years in various roles at Macquarie Bank in London and Australia. Paul is Chairman of iCON’s Investment Committee.
Iain has two decades of infrastructure and corporate finance experience and joined iCON in July 2012. He was previously at Deutsche Bank where he spent over 11 years in roles including Head of Transportation and Infrastructure for EMEA and Head of M&A for Asia. Iain has led a number of landmark M&A transactions and equity and debt financings in the infrastructure sector. Iain is a managing partner and a member of iCON’s Investment Committee.
Daniel assumed a leadership role in the iCON Team’s activities having joined shortly following its inception. He has over 17 years of experience in the infrastructure sector which covers principal investment, infrastructure financing and project development. Prior to joining the iCON Team, Daniel worked in the Energy and Infrastructure Group at Freshfields in London and in the banking division of Blake Dawson in Australia, specialising in project finance. Daniel is a managing partner and a member of iCON’s Investment Committee.
Reiner worked for 7 years at Hochtief AG in Germany as a member of their Global Executive Committee and CEO of Hochtief Concessions AG, which owned interests in 6 airports responsible for c.85 million passengers p.a., 7 toll roads in Europe, North and South America and c.100 PPP projects in Germany, the UK and North America. Prior to joining Hochtief, he spent 15 years in investment banking with Citigroup where he focused on infrastructure M&A. Reiner is a partner and member of iCON's Investment Committee and is based in iCON's German office.
Deryk has over 25 years of CEO and board level experience. Immediately prior to his involvement with iCON, he was Chairman and Chief Executive of Direct Energy (North America) which he led from its establishment by Centrica in 2000 to become a business with 5,000 employees and €7 billion of revenues. Prior to this, he was Group Managing Director and a board member of Powergen plc and occupied senior management roles in ICI Group. Deryk is a member of iCON’s Investment Committee and Chairman of general partners within the iCON group of funds.
Andrew Simon, OBE
Andrew has extensive CEO, board level, private equity and M&A experience across multiple jurisdictions and industries. He spent over 20 years at Evode Group, variously as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. He has been board member of a number of infrastructure companies including Associated British Ports, Severn Trent and Dalkia. Andrew is an independent board member of general partners within the iCON group of funds.
Gary joined iCON in 2013 and focuses on investments in the energy sector. He has two decades of experience working in the conventional and renewable power generation sectors. Gary started his career in General Electric where he spent 13 years in the Energy Division in multiple management roles, before moving to General Energy Financial Services. Following General Electric, Gary worked for Deutsche Bank as a technical director in the principal investment team and as Head of Energy for EEA Fund management.
Ivana joined iCON in November 2013 bringing over 15 years of corporate finance and investment experience. Since joining iCON, Ivana has worked on a number of investment opportunities in the energy and transportation sectors in Europe. Prior to iCON, Ivana worked as Investment Manager for EEA Fund Management where she had responsibility for leading renewable energy investments across Europe. Previously, Ivana worked at Deutsche Bank and General Electric, with responsibilities on origination, risk assessment, execution and management of energy investments and debt facilities. Ivana started her career as an M&A corporate finance advisor working for Citigroup and Ernst & Young.
Peter has nearly 15 years of experience in corporate finance and infrastructure, including a decade as part of the iCON team. He has been involved in all aspects of the establishment and development of iCON’s business, including the establishment of a number of iCON’s funds. Peter has a particular focus on the origination, execution and management of opportunities in the gas infrastructure sector, and was responsible for iCON’s investments in Mountaineer Gas and firmus energy. Originally trained as a lawyer at a leading corporate firm, Peter has played a key role in transactions with an aggregate enterprise value in excess of €15 billion.
Kristoff joined iCON in 2016 to focus on asset management. He has 16 years of experience in the logistics and ports industry.
Prior to iCON, Kristoff worked for Terminal Investment Limited, a major container terminal operator where he was responsible for a global portfolio of container terminals. Previously, Kristoff was Terminal manager at MSC Home Terminal in Antwerp, one of the biggest container terminals in Western Europe.
Enis has been a member of the iCON team since 2008 and has 8 years of principal investment experience. During this time, Enis had leadership roles across investments, debt financing, asset management and exits across a range of infrastructure sectors. Enis’ experience spans operating, development and construction stage projects. Prior to joining the iCON team, Enis worked for Deutsche Bank’s asset-backed credit team in New York.
Sarah joined iCON in 2016 to focus on asset management, bringing over 15 years of operational and strategic experience in the energy and utilities sector. She joined iCON from Centrica plc, where she held a number of roles within group companies and corporate centre, including responsibilities for strategy, M&A and post-merger integration. She previously worked at PwC in the UK and in Italy, where she focused on valuations and strategy consulting, primarily for power generation, energy supply and trading. Sarah started her career with Fortum Oyj, where she helped to set up an energy supply business and to manage power generation assets in the UK.
Scott joined iCON in 2016 to focus on asset management bringing over two decades of combined experience in the design, construction, financing and operation across a broad range of infrastructure, including energy, utilities, waste management, transport and PPP. Scott joined iCON from EISER Infrastructure where he was responsible for the management of portfolio companies encompassing acquisition, financing, restructuring and disposals and working with all the relevant stakeholders. Scott is a chartered civil engineer who started his career with WS Atkins working in the UK, and the Middle East prior to joining the E&Y Project Finance team.
Rishi joined the iCON Team in 2008 with a background in debt finance and hedging having previously been responsible for arranging and managing over €5 billion of credit facilities for both Deutsche Bank and Dresdner Bank. Rishi is involved in all aspects of investment, including origination, acquisition, asset management and divestment across the transportation and energy sectors. Rishi also focuses on coordination of the group’s financing activities, with responsibility for over €4 billion of completed financings.
Jeremy joined iCON in 2012 having previously worked as a solicitor with Weil Gotshal in London specialising in private equity. He has over 6 years of experience in domestic and cross-border M&A, including acquisitions and disposals, private equity, joint ventures and portfolio company management. Since joining iCON, Jeremy has played a significant role in transactions for assets across Europe as well as in the on-going management of iCON’s investments.
David joined iCON in February 2015 having previously worked as a corporate M&A lawyer at Herbert Smith Freehills in London, acting mainly for private equity sponsors. For 5 years’ he has had experience in domestic and cross-border M&A in various sectors, including infrastructure, TMT, energy and real estate and has experience in acquisitions, disposals, management buy-outs and restructurings. David also spent 9 months on secondment as in-house counsel at an infrastructure fund prior to joining iCON.
Thibault joined iCON in 2013 following four years at Citigroup in the Leveraged Finance team focusing on corporate and LBO financings in the European and US high yield and leveraged loan markets. Thibault graduated with a Masters in Mechanical Engineering from INSA Lyon (National Institute of Applied Sciences) and holds a Masters in European Business from ESCP Europe business School.
Conor joined iCON in 2013 having previously worked in the Infrastructure team of Macquarie Capital in London focusing on power and utilities M&A. Conor holds a Master’s Degree in Finance (1st Class Honours) from University College Dublin.
Mirco joined iCON in 2015 having previously worked for a Zurich based fund advisor specialised in renewable energy and green infrastructure where he was involved in wind, solar and CHP transactions. Mirco holds a Master of Science in Economics from the Universities of Bern and Copenhagen.
Neil joined iCON in 2016 having previously worked in the Business and Investor Advisory team at Arup, focusing on transport and utilities M&A transactions. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investments (CISI) and holds a degree in Architectural Science from University College Dublin and a Master’s Degree from University College London.
Joel joined iCON in 2016 as an Investment Analyst having previously spent two years working in the Goldman Sachs Pan-European Equity Sales team in London. Joel holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting & Finance (1st Class Honours) from the London School of Economics.
Daniel joined iCON in April 2012 as Director of Finance. Prior to joining, Daniel spent four years with an FSA regulated investment advisory firm with activities across a variety of investment strategies including Private Equity, where most recently he held the position of Group Financial Controller and the FSA approved position of Compliance Officer. Daniel previously held various roles at Goldman Sachs, KPMG and Barclays Bank. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England & Wales.
Daniel joined iCON in October of 2013 as Financial Controller. Daniel previously spent four years with KPMG working within Financial Services, specialising on international banking clients in London and Singapore. He has experience working in audit, with a specific focus on valuation, as well as liquidity reviews and operational risk assessments. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and holds a Bachelor of Science from Loughborough University.
James joined iCON in 2015 as Finance Analyst. He is a qualified chartered accountant, having previously spent three years at Kingston Smith LLP as an auditor. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and has a Masters in Physics with French from the University of Nottingham & EPFL.
Alex joined iCON in 2016 as Finance Analyst. Previously she spent 5 years with a FTSE 250 multinational company in the Financial Planning and Analysis department, focusing on finance reporting and controlling. She has a first class degree in Accounting and Finance and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accounting.
Anette joined iCON in 2012 and has day to day responsibility for compliance monitoring and project support. Prior to joining iCON, Anette worked at Cambridge Immigration Legal Centre where she was responsible for compliance monitoring and marketing. Anette’s experience also includes various project support roles at Cambridge City Council. Anette is a member of the Project Management Institute and has a Professional Diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
Jo-Anne joined iCON in 2016 as Executive Assistant and Office Manager. Previously, Jo-Anne worked as a development sales consultant for Berkeley Homes. Prior to that she spent time in Dublin working in New Homes and in a property advisory firm providing support to the Board of Directors. She is responsible for day to day organisation of the iCON office as well as supporting the management team.
